So it’s been about a month since I went to Costa Rica with Connor for about ten days. Apart from the flight and the first nights accommodation, everything else was booked last minute or an hour or two in advance. There was no pressure and it felt nice to have the freedom to change things if we needed, which we did frequently. So I guess that relaxed attitude is why it took me so long to put this up.
We flew into San Jose late on a Friday night and wanted to get out of the city as fast as possible. So we realized that we needed to take a five hour bus to the mountains in La Fortuna the following morning at 8:30am. We woke up early to find our bus, then we found out the bus left early. However, we could take a few other buses via an indirect route and possibly get to La Fortuna depending how long our driver wanted to drive that day. Along with the help of some kind strangers we slowly bounced our way to the mountains of La Fortuna.
We ended up staying in La Fortuna for about two days jumping into water falls, climbing a volcano, and seeing signs with a one hundred percent guarantee of seeing a sloth. The weather was very overcast and rainy, plus we were really offput by the very touristy town. Then we decided to book a last minute shuttle to the beach in Jaco were we stayed for about a week, which was one hundred percent the right move.
