So I’ve been in Hanoi for a few days now. It is quite a stark contrast to Hong Kong, it is wildly chaotic, dirtier cheaper, and more vibrant in other ways.
I took a bus from the airport to the main road near the hostel and walk over the my new home. Just crossing the street was an ordeal. There are so many people going so many different directions and it was just wild. It was like every intersection has all green lights, in all ways, all of the time.
Hanoi is not necessarily a pretty city, it has its charm, but that’s not why you should come here. You should come to Hanoi for the people and the food. The different types of people, doing different types of activities with different types of instruments is the reason you should come here. Here is what I thought was special about Hanoi in that regard.
Full story coming soon - right now I’m in my hostel, killing time, waiting to take an over night bus to Hue for a few nights. I am also planning how I am going to travel around Tet, the new year celebration in Vietnam (February 3rd-5th) and getting everything in line for taxes.
